A Unique Learning Approach

At Grubser’s Music Academy we recognise the fact that teaching adults is radically different from teaching children or future professional musicians. It is for this very reason that we have developed a unique learning approach.

The unique learning approach encompasses many different facets of learning and we try to utilise as many of them as possible in our teaching approach

As each individual is unique with a specific goal and reason for learning music, we first and foremost try to establish what the individual wishes to learn during his or her time at Grubser’s.

After establishing the basis for learning, our instructors prepares a program in accordance with each individual’s needs and desires.

This is then coupled with the amount of time the individual has available to dedicated to practicing on a weekly basis and the program is then firmly established.

We make absolutely sure that our instructors make each and every lesson a thorough, enjoyable experience that enrich the individual with knowledge unknown to him or her before.

Below is a short summary of our reasoning behind this approach:

REASONS WHY SUCH AN APPROACH IS NECESSARY:

  • bullet Adults are time poor and do not have several hours a week to practice
  • bullet Adults learn much faster than children
  • bullet Adults have a unrealistic fear about learning
  • bullet Adults tend to believe that they are either too old to learn or not talented (both reasons are invalid)
  • bullet Adults need excellent guidance and understanding instructors
  • bulletAdults need to learn in a non-judgmental and tranquil environment

OUR MODUS OPERANDI TOWARDS THIS APPROACH:

  • bullet We only engage patient and understanding instructors who have a passion to teach adults
  • bullet Our teachers & culture constantly encourage learning (regardless of age or talent)
  • bullet We host non-judgmental musical evenings where adults can perform or listen to others perform
  • bullet We never force anyone to perform or learn what they do not wish to learn
  • bullet We speak encouraging words and make sure that our environment stays true to our vision
